Chasing adventures in the Pyrenees one pedal stroke at a time, from epic foothills to legendary climbs!

Welcome! I'm Debbie, and this is where my cycling journey truly started, right in the heart of the French Pyrénées. If I inspire even one of you to start or keep riding your bike, then I've accomplished my goal.

In 2015, we relocated to this incredible region, and at the age of 50, I took up cycling for the first time since a severe cycling crash many decades ago. What began as a new hobby quickly transformed into an intense passion. The mountains became my sanctuary, my challenge, and the vibrant setting for a total life change.

Residing here, I've become captivated by the exhilarating essence of mountain cycling. I'm frequently on the slopes of these legendary mountains, conquering the challenging Catégorie 1 and Hors Catégorie climbs renowned in the Tour de France. These climbs, including the notorious Col d’Aubisque, Col de Marie-Blanque, Col du Pourtalet, Col du Soulor, and Hautacam, are where mental and physical endurance are honed.

I’m thankful for the strength I’ve found, which allows me to smile through the pain. The climbs never get easier, but I get stronger. My passion drives me out the door in all weather, proving that a cyclist's true strength lies not just in their legs, but in their dedication to embracing the next challenge.

There is nothing that compares to the sensation. Going down a mountain road feels like true freedom, similar to flying alongside the birds of prey in the Pyrenees. My adventures always start from our front gate, where the morning sun shines on the old rooftops and the air is filled with the aroma of alpine forests.

The Pyrénées offer a paradise where strenuous effort meets pure joy in perfect harmony. Cycling through these challenging foothills, charming villages, and vineyards with snow-capped peaks beyond, and ascending legendary climbs, this breathtaking and otherworldly landscape not only tests my physical limits but also deeply nourishes my spirit.

My bike has become an extraordinary companion, lightening my worries while amplifying the joy of momentary triumphs. Each ride ends not just with kilometres and elevation logged, but with cherished memories and a deep appreciation for the act of cycling.

Whether you’re a seasoned rider or simply looking for your next challenge, this blog is your guide. I’m here to share local insights on the best climbs, essential gear, weather tips, and the charming culture and coffee stops that await you in almost every village.

The adventure continues, and I can't wait to share it with you. Who knows what hidden treasures await us just beyond the next bend, or the next summit?

Bonne visite à toi!
