Our day began with an exhilarating journey following the Tour from Pau to Luz Ardiden. The anticipation was high as we managed to catch glimpses of the cyclists between Pau and Lys, soaking in the excitement of the event. However, as we approached Luz, we realised that we had missed the cut-off time, which was disappointing at first. Nevertheless, we decided to turn this setback into a positive experience and embarked on a challenging ride up Hautacam.

The ascent up Hautacam was nothing short of spectacular, with jaw-dropping scenery unfolding before our eyes at every turn. The sheer beauty of the Pyrenees landscape served as both a distraction and a motivation as we pushed ourselves to the limit, testing the strength of our legs and the resilience of our mental attitude. Hautacam is renowned for being one of the more demanding climbs in the region, presenting a formidable challenge, especially for those who are not fond of the constant changes in gradient that characterise the climb.

Despite the physical and mental exertion required, reaching Hautacam was a rewarding achievement in itself. And for those who dare to push further, the road continues to lead up to the Col de Trammasel, offering an even greater test of endurance and determination. The experience of conquering Hautacam and the possibility of extending the journey to the Col de Trammasel added layers of depth and satisfaction to our cycling adventure in the Pyrenees, making it a day to remember for a lifetime.

Fortunately, the traffic was light because nearly everyone was watching the Tour de France on Luz Ardiden; luckily, the scenery overlooking the valley was truly breathtaking. The winding roads and lush greenery create a picturesque setting that gives the sensation of being suspended above the valley as if floating in a dream. The majestic mountains in the distance only add to the awe-inspiring view, making it a moment to cherish.

Regrettably, as we ascended the climb, we found ourselves enveloped in dense low clouds. The misty veil obscured the view of the summit, shrouding the mountain peaks in mystery and adding an element of suspense to our journey. Despite this unexpected turn of events, the mystical atmosphere created by the clouds lent an air of enchantment to the landscape, turning our ascent into a memorable adventure filled with intrigue and wonder.
